At Alicia Peru our heritage and continued passion is for natural fibers and our fiber of choice is alpaca.  We have been producing our contemporary line of alpaca sweaters, alpaca cardigans, alpaca coats and alpaca jackets for women since 2008.  We design our products and choose our color boards here in the Seattle area and then collaborate with small to medium sized workshops in Peru that craft and create each of our products with experienced hands and a mix of modern knitting techniques always using premium baby alpaca and alpaca wool blends.

We cannot herald enough the benefits of alpaca as a fiber, it is lightweight, breathable, soft and durable.  We like to consider it a Sustainable Alternative to Cashmere and here are three easy reasons why:

Preserve – alpacas graze gently resulting in easier regrowth and regeneration of grasslands.

Choose (efficiency) – one alpaca equals 20 cashmere goats to produce approximately 4-5 garments annually.

Conserve – alpacas drink less water than goats, with global herds at 5 million alpacas vs. 70 million cashmere goats – this is water saved!
